وَقالوا التَحي مَن كانَ نوراً فَأَظلَما

وَأَصبَحَ مِنهُ أَشهَبُ الخَدِّ أَدهَما

وَأَصبَحَ مِنهُ أَشهَبُ الخَدِّ أَدهَما

They said, “He who was your two lights has grown a beard, and both lights have darkened;

because of it, the fair-cheeked one has turned jet-black.”

فَقُلتُ إِذاً قَد صارَ شَرطي لِأَنَّني

أُحِبُّ مِنَ الأَثوابِ ما كانَ مُعلَما
