وَتَصفيقُand clapping أَمواجٍwaves وَرَقصُand dancing غُصونِbranches
The singing of blackbirds and the piping of nightingales,
The singing of nightingales and the chorus of bulbuls,
And the clapping of waves and the dancing of branches,
The clapping of waves and the dancing of branches,
وَوَصلُand continuing مُعاطاةٍmutual giving وَقَطعُand cutting off تَمَنُّعٍcoy refusal
وَطَيُّand folding away مُراعاةٍdiscretion وَنَشرُand unfurling مُجونِwanton revelry
And mutual giving continued, and coy refusal cut short,
The joining of courtesies and the cutting off of coyness,
And discretion folded away, and wanton revelry unfurled.
The extending of manners and the spreading of talents.
فَلِمَso why لاnot يَراناsees us الرَوضُthe garden فيin سوقِهِits market الَّتيwhich
بِهاin it كُلَّall أَنواعٍkinds وَكُلُّand all فُنونِarts
Then why does the garden not see us in its market, where
Why then does the garden not show us at its market
All kinds and all arts are found?
Where all kinds and arts abound?
فَقُمso rise نَتَّجِرlet us trade فيهاin it فَلَيسَتfor it is not مُفيدَةٌprofitable

So rise, let us trade there, for it yields no profit
Come let us trade in it, for it is useless
If no customer frequents it.
If it is not populated with customers.
