The hills of al-Qash have gilded tents,

their coverings studded with fine rain.

And lightning’s silk has been cried for sale

by thunder’s crier in the marketplace of clouds.

So break your wine jar’s seal to reveal agate,

whose gleam the obsidian of darkness enhances.

For the roof of the sky has let down upon us

    its chains with hidden joints.
