بِأَلحاظٍwith glances كَأَلحاظِlike the glances of الغَزالِthe gazelle
بِأَلحاظٍ كَأَلحاظِ الغَزالِ
The crescent moon of Banu Hilal has taken my mind captive,
My mind was captivated by the crescent moon of the Hilal tribe
With glances like those of the gazelle.
With glances like the glances of a gazelle
غَريرٌa guileless youth فَوقَupon عارِضِهِhis cheek عِذارٌa line of facial down
غَريرٌ فَوقَ عارِضِهِ عِذارٌ
كَليلِlike the night of الهَجرِseparation فيin صُبحِthe dawn of الوِصالِunion
كَليلِ الهَجرِ في صُبحِ الوِصالِ
A guileless youth, with a line of down upon his cheek,
Cheerfulness above his brow, coquetry
Like the night of separation amid the dawn of union.
Like the night of separation at the dawn of union
إِذاwhen أَبدىhe reveals مُؤامَرَةَa scheme of التَجَنّيgroundless reproach
إِذا أَبدى مُؤامَرَةَ التَجَنّي
أَقَمتُI muster لَهاfor it وُجوهَforms of الإِحتِمالِforbearance
أَقَمتُ لَها وُجوهَ الإِحتِمالِ
When he reveals a scheme of groundless reproach,
When he revealed the conspiracy of flirtation
I muster forms of forbearance to meet it.
