وَالزَهرُand the flowers يُخرَطُare strung فيin الرِياضِthe gardens وَيُنقَشُand are patterned
The clouds are spread across the sky and laid out,
The clouds spread across the sky and unfurl
And flowers are strung through the gardens and patterned.
The flowers embroidered in gardens and carved
وَالرَعدُand thunder يَسجَعُcoos وَالسَحابُand the clouds مُطَنَّبٌstretched like a tent
وَالبَرقُand lightning يَلمَعُflashes وَالنَدىand the dew يَتَرَشَّشُfalls in droplets
And thunder coos, while the clouds are stretched like a tent,
The thunder rumbles and the clouds are tufted
And lightning flashes, while dew falls in droplets.
The lightning flashes and the dew sprinkles
وَالنَبتُand the vegetation مُنتَشِرٌspread out فَمِنهُso some of it مُدَبَّجٌbrocaded

And the vegetation spreads: some of it is brocaded,
The vegetation thriving, some embroidered
Adorning the boughs, while some is feathered.
Branches adorned, some made into bowers

As for this one's borders, their pattern smiles
Types smiling, their patterns refreshed
Within it; and that one's embroidery refreshes you.
Caverns laugh, teased by the morning breeze

And the pools smile, baring their bubbles' teeth,
The wind composed for its cheeks a necklace
As the east wind tickles and caresses them.
Of pearls so dazzling and finely polished
وَالراحُand the wine قَدhas نَظَّمَstrung المِزاجُthe mixing water لِجيدِهاfor her neck
عِقداًa necklace مِنَof الدُرِّthe pearls الَّذيwhich هُوَit مُدهِشُdazzling
And the wine—the water mixed in has strung about her neck
Seek you pleasure to quench your thirst
A necklace of pearls that are dazzling.
And cheer it with joyous friend
فَاِطلُبso seek لِنَفسِكَfor your soul مَورِداًa watering place مِنَof لِذَّةٍdelight
تَشفىyou quench صَداهُits thirst فَإِنَّهُfor it is مُتَعَطِّشُthirsty
So seek for your soul a watering place of delight,
If you know it to be lonesome and forlorn
To quench its thirst, for it is parched.
In the garden of one whose guests never
وَاِمنُنand bestow عَلَيهِupon it مِنَof السُرورِjoy بِمُؤنِسٍwith a comforting companion
إِنif كُنتَyou are تَعلَمُyou know أَنَّهُthat it is مُستَوحِشُlonely
And grant it the comforting company of joy,
Feared the thorns of worry that prick
If you know that it is lonely,
Should narcissus smile amid violets
فيin رَوضَةِa garden مَنwhoever كانَwas مِنamong أَضيافِهاits guests
لَمdid not يَخشَfear مِنany هَمٍّsorrow بِهِagainst him يَتَحَرَّشُacts provocatively
In a garden where whoever is among its guests
It would disturb the calm when it preens
Fears no sorrow seeking to harass him.
فَلَئِنso if indeed تَبَسَّمَsmiled فيamong البَنَفسَجِthe violets نَرجِسٌa narcissus
لِيُكَدِّرَنَّwill surely cloud الصَفوَthe calm حينَwhen يُعَرِّشُforms a canopy
For if a narcissus smiles among the violets,
It will surely cloud the calm when it forms a canopy.
