The cloud mingles its lament with its weeping.

So drink, amid the tears, from its dews—

Gold: when an eye turns toward it,

It pauses, letting its gaze delight in the gold's clarity.

With a coy beloved, I sought no delight

Until the guide of his singing led us onward,

Before it appeared, with the earth bare before you

Of the gold of its narcissus and the silver of its water.
