وَمَن تَمَلَّكَني عَبداً بِلا ثَمَنِ
Since you left, I have dwelt in sorrow’s abode, O my solace,
After you left, a quarter of worry settled in me, O my tranquility,
and you who took possession of me as a slave at no cost,
And whoever possessed me without a price, I was a slave without worth,

when the slander of the spiteful drove you toward
When the slanderers schemed to lead me to the paths of betrayal, while I did not betray,
the paths of betraying me, though I had committed no betrayal.
Conceal the coarseness of the face of stinginess from you, for my longing for your good kindness has been prolonged,

So veil the ugly face of your stinginess, for indeed
Do not plant a palm tree from your bad assumption of me,
my longing for your gracious kindness has grown long.
For how many palms produced fruit from the palm tree of assumptions.

Do not plant a spreading tree from your ill opinion of me,
for how much hatred the tree of suspicions has borne!
