ماnot اِستَطعَمَtasted القَصدُseeking مِثلَthe like of بِشريmy cheerful welcome
قَطُّever وَلاnor ذاقَtasted مِثلَthe like of بِرّيmy kindness
Seeking has not tasted the like of my cheerful welcome,
No purpose ever sought the like of my humanity,
ever, nor savored the like of my kindness.
Nor did any cat taste the like of my righteousness.

Virtues from which I have donned
Graces have I donned, from them
a brocade robe that has exalted my name.
A brocade that spread the fame of my mention.

I trail it as I go in the evening, then go forth in the morning,
I trail it, perfumed, and become,
amid praise and gratitude.
Between praise and gratitude.

When a people's glory reaches its height
When the pride of a people climbs
through their generosity, it remains beneath my glory.
With their munificence, it falls short of my pride.
