قُمrise فَاِنحَرِthen slaughter الراحِthe wine يَومَon the day of النَحرِsacrifice بِالماءِwith water
قُم فَاِنحَرِ الراحِ يَومَ النَحرِ بِالماءِ
وَلاand do not تُضَحِّoffer a sacrifice ضُحىًat midmorning إِلّاexcept بِصَهباءِwith tawny wine
وَلا تُضَحِّ ضُحىً إِلّا بِصَهباءِ
Rise, and slaughter the wine with water on the Day of Sacrifice.
Rise, and on the day of sacrifice, slaughter for water,
And at midmorning offer no sacrifice but tawny wine.
And offer no morning draught but Sohoba's water.
أَدرِكcatch up with حَجيجَthe pilgrims of النَدامىthe drinking companions قَبلَbefore نَقرِهِمُtheir tapping or calling; probably their departure is intended
أَدرِك حَجيجَ النَدامى قَبلَ نَقرِهِمُ
إِلىto مِنىMinā قَصفِهِمtheir revelry مَعwith كُلِّevery هَيفاءِslender-waisted woman
إِلى مِنى قَصفِهِم مَع كُلِّ هَيفاءِ
Catch up with the pilgrim-band of drinking companions before they set out
Overtake the pilgrims of sorrow before their moaning
to the Minā of their revelry, with every slender-waisted beauty.
To Mina, jostling with every dark and light-haired maid.
وَعُجand turn aside عَلىtoward مَكَّةَMecca الروحاءَal-Rawḥāʾ مُبتَكِراًearly in the morning
وَعُج عَلى مَكَّةَ الروحاءَ مُبتَكِراً
فَطُفthen circumambulate بِهاaround it حَولَaround رُكنِthe corner of العودِthe lute وَالنّائيand the flute-player
فَطُف بِها حَولَ رُكنِ العودِ وَالنّائي
And turn early toward the Mecca of al-Rawḥāʾ,
Make haste to holy Mecca at daybreak,
then make your circuit there around the corner of the lute and the flute-player.
Then circumambulate the niche and far idol.
