People have neither heard nor been told
People have never heard or spoken
Of excellence like that found in Abu al-Fadl.
Of generosity like my generous friend's

A young man who, when I ask him to meet a need,
When I ask him for help with my needs
Fulfills it in secret, without delay.
He takes care of them secretly and promptly

He has donned generosity, so his hems
He is clothed in generosity, with hems
Are free of the filth of miserliness.
Unsullied by the dirt of stinginess
