Our virtues are more fragrant than the garden's blossom.

And I reckon us brighter than the stars of the sky.

And we are full moons amid battle-dust, though the dust is dark.

And we are oceans in peace, while peace is radiant.

Generous—whenever a quest inhales our bounty,

Perfume and ambergris waft from it to the seeker.

    مَناقِبُهُم مِن كُلِّ ما فيهِ أَكثَرُ

    The earth exults in us, at the tread of noble lords;

Their merits outnumber all that it contains.

And the days glory in us, until it is as though we were

Wrought ornaments and jewels for their necks.

For were we not the best of humankind, we would not possess

Prevailing rule over Time and imperious might.
