ياoh! لِساقٍfor a cupbearer مُهَفهَفِslender-waisted
قامَhe rose يَسعىhe hurries about بِقَرقَفِwith wine
Oh, for a slender-waisted cupbearer!
O breezy swaying legs
He rose and hurried about with wine.
That scurried with jingling anklets
فَتَناوَلتُso I took طُرفَةًa rare delight
مِنfrom بَنانٍfingers مُطَرَّفِdyed at the tips
So I took a rare delight
I plucked a sprig
from fingers dyed at their tips.
Of a blossoming, beribboned bough
صُبحَةٌa morning draught ثُمَّthen طَرفَهاits close
مَعwith أَخٍa companion ذيpossessing تَطَرُّفِa taste for novelties
A morning draught, then its close,
At dawn, then spent it
with a companion fond of novelties.
With a bigoted brother
