أَياO مَنone whose ريقُهُhis saliva خَمريmy wine
وَمَنand one whose وَجنَتُهُhis cheek زَهريmy blossom
O you whose saliva is my wine,
O you whose saliva is wine
and whose cheek is my blossom,
And whose cheeks are rosy
إِلىuntil كَمhow long يَرِدُcomes to drink العَتبُreproach

How long will reproach come to drink,
To what extent does reproach flow

That cannot be quenched by excuses
أَظُنُّI think الوُدَّlove قَدalready تَمَّتhas succeeded
عَلَيهِagainst it حيلَةُthe stratagem الغَدرِof treachery
I think love has already been ensnared
I think love has been completed
by treachery's stratagem.
By the trickery of betrayal

أَسيراًa captive فيin يَدِthe hand of الهَجرِestrangement

Otherwise why has intimacy
a captive in the hand of estrangement?
Become captive at separation's hands
