ياO ذاyou الَّذيwho وَخَدَتtrotted swiftly مَطِيَّةُmount لَومِهِhis reproach
إِذwhen حَثَّهاurged it on الحاديthe camel-driver الَّذيwho هُوَhe جُهدُهُhis effort
O you whose mount of reproach trotted swiftly,
O you whose mount was blamed for his fault,
when the camel-driver—your own effort—urged it on.
When the guide urged it on, for that is his role,
ماno فِيَّin me فَضلٌstrength to spare لِاِستِماعِfor listening to مَلامَةٍreproach
فيin حُبِّlove مَولايَmy master الَّذيwho أَناI عَبدُهُhis slave
I have no strength to spare for listening to reproach
I have no merit in hearing blame,
for loving my master, whose slave I am.
For loving my Master, whom I serve,
ذاthis النُصحِthe counsel غِشٌّdeceit لاno مَحالَةَescape مِنكَfrom you ليto me
إِذاif كُنتَyou are تَعلَمُyou know أَنَّthat فَقديmy loss فَقدُهُhis loss
This counsel is surely deceit from you toward me,
Your advice is surely insincere to me,
if you know that my loss is his loss.
If you know that to lose me is to lose Him.
