شَتّانَhow far apart بَينَbetween العَيرِthe donkey وَالجَوادِand the noble steed
شَتّانَ بَينَ العَيرِ وَالجَوادِ
O you who run in the halter of obstinacy!
O neighbor wandering in the pasture of stubbornness
How far apart are the donkey and the noble steed!
Great is the difference between the mule and the steed
فَإِنso if تَكُنyou are مِنfrom مَربَطِthe stable of الأَعاديthe enemies

فَاِرجِع فَما تُصلِحُ لِلطِرادِ
So if you are from the enemies’ stable,
If you are from the enemy's stable
Then turn back, for you are of no use in mounted combat.
Then turn back, you are unfit for the chase
