O you to the cord of whose love I have clung,

And who withdrew from me the shade of your nearness,

Why do you not take pity on a lover

stumbling over the trailing hems of his anguish?

Never grow the blossom of ardent

love with aversion in the soil of his heart.

And fear punishment, for a young man

must be requited for his sin.
