O you through whom my dead renown came to life,

And to whom my affairs return,

I have a brother who, whenever he invites me,

Spares no effort in serving me and showing me kindness.

And I have nothing but rhymes,

Which I offer from the wine jars of my thought,

    Amid greetings made of meanings

That have shone in the bosoms of my verse.

So if you come to my aid with wine

That relieves me of my secret torment,

I shall dedicate to you what is mine

From what I possess of my gratitude's yield.
