لا تَلحَظَن مَن أَنتَ مُستَهتَرٌ

لا تَلحَظَن مَن أَنتَ مُستَهتَرٌ

بِهِ إِذا كانَ عَلَيهِ رَقيب

بِهِ إِذا كانَ عَلَيهِ رَقيب

Never glance at the one you are besotted

Do not scorn the one you take too lightly

With, when a watcher keeps watch over him.

When he has a watcher over him

وَغَطِّ بِالأَطرافِ وَجهَ الهَوى

وَغَطِّ بِالأَطرافِ وَجهَ الهَوى

فَلَيسَ تَخفى لَحَظاتُ المُريب

فَلَيسَ تَخفى لَحَظاتُ المُريب

And veil the face of passion with your eyelids;

And veil with modesty the face of passion

For a suspect's glances do not go unnoticed.

For the glances of the wary do not go unseen
