Necks of boughs in necklaces of pearl,
Branches of oleander in necklaces of pearls,
And the life of spreading trees in headbands of gold,
And the life of ostriches in plaits of myrtle,

And eyes of unworked gold in sockets of silver,
Eyes of musk in silver rings,
And cheeks of pearl in faces of chrysolite.
And cheeks of pearls in faces of chrysolite.

So take pleasure in the fairest cups they grasped
Of every white-trimmed, rose-tinted bloom;
Of every intricate, embroidered design,

Especially as the violets have described
Blue eyes that have availed themselves of antimony kohl.
The blueness of the eyes that took root in the wrists.
