خَليلَيَّmy two friends هَلis there مِنany مُسعِدٍhelper ليfor me عَلىwith كَربيmy anguish
فَقَدfor indeed زادَit has grown حَتىuntil خِفتُI feared مِنهُbecause of it عَلىfor قَلبيmy heart
My two friends, is there anyone to help me in my anguish?
My friend, is there anyone who can ease my troubles?
For it has grown until I feared for my heart because of it.
For they have grown until I fear for my heart.
خَليلَيَّmy two friends إِنif فاوَضتُّماyou two speak with مَنthe one whom أُحِبُّهُI love him
فَلاthen do not تَكتَماهُyou two hide from him ماwhat أُقاسيهِI endure it مِنfrom حُبِّlove
My two friends, if you speak with the one I love,
My friend, if we meet whom I love,
Then do not hide from him what I suffer from love.
Do not conceal my suffering from loving him.
عَساهُperhaps he عَلىin view of ضَعفيmy weakness تُصَدَّقُgives charitably بِالرِضاwith favor
فَماfor … not لِيَfor me ماanything that أَقضيI satisfy بِهِwith it شَهوَlonging القُربِnearness
Perhaps, in view of my weakness, he will graciously grant his favor,
Perhaps he will show me mercy in my weakness
For I have nothing with which to satisfy my longing for nearness.
And fulfill my desire for nearness.
