تِيهُconceit عيسىIsa لَمdid not يَدَعهُlet him
تِيهُ عيسى لَم يَدَعهُ
قَطُّever يَسخوbe generous بِالكَلامِwith words
قَطُّ يَسخو بِالكَلامِ
Isa's conceit has not let him
Jesus' wandering never left him
ever be generous with words.
silent, he was always speaking eloquently.
سِفلَةٌa lowlife تُعرِضُturns away عَنّاfrom us
سِفلَةٌ تُعرِضُ عَنّا
دائِماًalways لاnot لِاِحتِشامِout of modesty
دائِماً لا لِاِحتِشامِ
A lowlife who turns away from us
The riffraff turn away from us
always—not out of modesty.
continually, not out of modesty.
جازَpassed بِالأَمسِyesterday عَلَيناby us
جازَ بِالأَمسِ عَلَينا
فَتَبَدّىthen he appeared بِالسَلامِwith a greeting
فَتَبَدّى بِالسَلامِ
He passed by us yesterday,
Yesterday he passed by us
then appeared with a greeting.
and greeted us with "Peace."
فَتَعَجَّبناso we marveled وَقُلناand we said
فَتَعَجَّبنا وَقُلنا
رَميَةٌa shot مِنfrom غَيرِother than رامِan archer
رَميَةٌ مِن غَيرِ رامِ
So we marveled and said:
We were astonished and said:
"A shot from one who is no archer!"
An arrow from an unerring archer.
