لَم يَصفُ عيسى بنُ مُرقُسٍ لِأَخٍ

لَم يَصفُ عيسى بنُ مُرقُسٍ لِأَخٍ

إِلّا وَشابَ الصَفاءَ تَكديرُ

إِلّا وَشابَ الصَفاءَ تَكديرُ

Isa son of Marqus was never sincere toward a brother

Jesus, son of Marqas, described no brother

without a taint clouding that purity.

Save one whose pure water was muddied-

فَلا رَعا اللَهُ مَن يَكونُ كَذا

فَلا رَعا اللَهُ مَن يَكونُ كَذا

أَخلاقَهُ تَمرَةٌ وَزَنبورُ

أَخلاقَهُ تَمرَةٌ وَزَنبورُ

So may God not protect anyone like this:

So may God not tend to one whose nature

His character is a date and a hornet.

Is a date, sweet without, and wasp within.
