زَحَفتُI marched إِلىtoward خارِجِيِّthe rebel of العَدَمpoverty
زَحَفتُ إِلى خارِجِيِّ العَدَم
وَتَحتَand beneath لِوائيmy banner جُيوشُarmies of النِعَمblessings
وَتَحتَ لِوائي جُيوشُ النِعَم
I marched against the rebel of poverty,
I crawled to the edge of my nonexistence
and beneath my banner were armies of blessings.
And under my banner were armies of blessings
فَماso not زِلتُI ceased أَقصِدُI seek آثارَهُhis tracks
فَما زِلتُ أَقصِدُ آثارَهُ
فَلَمّاthen when وَقَعتُI fell عَلَيهِupon him اِنهَزَمhe was routed
فَلَمّا وَقَعتُ عَلَيهِ اِنهَزَم
So I kept pursuing his tracks;
Still I sought out his traces
then, when I fell upon him, he was routed.
But when I came upon him, he fled
وَهَيهاتَand it is impossible يَثبُتُhe stands firm فيin بَلدَةٍa town

Alas, how could he stand his ground
when the prince of generosity settles there.
When the prince of generosity arrived in his land
