سَلَوتُ عَن هاجِري وَعِندي
أَنِّيَthat I فيin ذاكَthat غَيرُnot فارِهdiscerning
أَنِّيَ في ذاكَ غَيرُ فارِه
I have moved on from the one who forsakes me, yet I believe
I asked about my love though it caused me pain
That in this I have not been discerning.
For I could no longer hide my heart's disdain
فَقيلَso it was said ليto me إِذwhen أَذَعتُI made known هَذاthis
فَقيلَ لي إِذ أَذَعتُ هَذا
يُخارُthe best is chosen لِلعَبدِfor the servant وَهوَwhile he is كارِهunwilling
يُخارُ لِلعَبدِ وَهوَ كارِه
So I was told, when I made this known:
When I spoke of this, it was said to me
The best is chosen for the servant, though he is unwilling.
A slave may show his love, reluctantly
