غَيرُnot رَقيقٍthin وَغَيرُand not مُنعَقِدِcongealed
I have a dish I cooked with my own hand,
I have a color that I brewed by hand
Neither thin nor congealed.
Not too thin or too thickened
وَقَدand already أَمَرناwe ordered مِنَfrom الغَداةِthe morning لَناfor us

And in the morning we ordered for ourselves
And we were ordered since morning for us
A portion of a round-bodied kid,
Something serious, round-bodied

Alongside rukhāmiyya, a marbled sweet whose taste
To marble whose taste
Is sweeter than a life without trouble;
Sweeter than a life without sorrow

And a bowl of lawzinaj, as though I had
And a cup as if I had
Cast silver from it upon hailstones;
Listened to a genie from it in the cold

And a blossom as fragrant as my inner character,
And a flower in examined intelligence
And wine as clear as my creed.
And coffee in my confident purity

Its cups unveil the wine before you,
Your wines clarify their cups for you
Their heads turbaned with foam;
Turbaned heads with foam

And a singer—you scarcely hear the like
And a listener you can barely hear what
Of his singing from anyone else.
Comes in singing from anyone

When we gather near him, safe are
If we gathered near it our souls would be secured
Our souls from sorrow’s harm.
From the harm of frowning

So bestir yourself to be with a brother
So be active until you are with a brother
Whose song lives forever in the mind.
Immortalized, his singing lives forever

He is, toward all who call on him,
He rises over everyone who blames him
More tender than a father toward his child.
I'm more merciful than a father to his son
