كَفىhe spared الأَصدِقاءَthe friends طِلابَthe pursuit of الأَعاديthe foes
كَفى الأَصدِقاءَ طِلابَ الأَعادي
وَقامَand he attended بِواجِبِto the obligation of حَقِّthe rightful claim of الوِدادِfriendship
وَقامَ بِواجِبِ حَقِّ الوِدادِ
He spared his friends the pursuit of foes,
Enough of seeking out enemies -
And discharged the duty owed to friendship.
He has fulfilled the duty of true affection.
فَلَسناso we are not نُفَرِّطُneglecting فيin شُكرِهِthanking him
فَلَسنا نُفَرِّطُ في شُكرِهِ
عَلىon كُلِّevery طَودٍlofty mountain وَفيand in كُلِّevery وادِvalley
عَلى كُلِّ طَودٍ وَفي كُلِّ وادِ
So we do not neglect to thank him,
We will not neglect thanking him
On every lofty mountain and in every valley.
For every help on each road.
فَتىa youth إِنif تَرَدّىhe cloaks himself لِإِنجادِناto aid us
فَتى إِن تَرَدّى لِإِنجادِنا
تَرَدّىhe cloaks himself بِكُلِّwith every طَويلِlong النِجادِsword-belt
تَرَدّى بِكُلِّ طَويلِ النِجادِ
A youth who, if he cloaks himself to aid us,
A gallant man, if he rushes to our aid,
Cloaks himself in every warrior with a long sword-belt.
Rushes with every long spear.
قَضىhe fulfilled لِأَودّاءِfor dear friends حَقَّthe rightful claim of الوِدادِfriendship
قَضى لِأَودّاءِ حَقَّ الوِدادِ
وَمَنَّand he bestowed favor عَلَيهِمupon them بِكَبتِby humbling الأَعاديthe foes
وَمَنَّ عَلَيهِم بِكَبتِ الأَعادي
He fulfilled for dear friends the claims of friendship,
He has fulfilled the right of affection for friends
And favored them by humbling their foes.
And favored them by suppressing enemies.
Sol 6.1
