    وَالرَوضُ في حَريرِهِ وَقَزِّهِ

    The sky is robed in its plain cloth and silk-and-wool fabric,

    And the garden in its silk and raw silk;

    وَالقَطرُ بَينَ رَكضِهِ وَنَقزِهِ

    And the blossoms alternate between glances and winks,

    And the rain between galloping and leaping;

    And the water has traced its amulet's script in tiny letters.

    So put on pleasure's finest fabric,

    When the earth reveals what lies in its treasury

    And sways in its ornamental bands and embroidered borders.

    For the greatest loser in the market of his own weakness

    Is he who sells his life's sweetness for its bitterness.
