Truly, they have left the heart tormented—
Truly, it has left the heart tormented—

a cheek whose veil is finer than the east breeze.

Never did it appear to the eyes silvered
Never did it appear silvered to the eyes

without returning gilded by their glances.

And when a serpent from his hair coils,
And when a serpent from his hair writhes
one day, the women who comb it turn it back into a scorpion.
one day, the hairdressers turn it back into a scorpion.
