O virtuous benefactor, whose goodness
O beneficent one, whose kindness
comes knocking at my door, secretly and openly!
visits me in secret and openly,
سُعِدتَblessed are you مِنas a خِلٍّfriend لَهُhe has نائِلٌbounty

لَو كانَ مَرعىً كانَ سَعدانا
Blessed are you with an intimate friend who has bounty to offer—
blessed are you, a friend whose bounty,
were your protégé a pasture plant, he would be saʿdān.
were it pasture, would be saʿdān.
