ياO أَيُّهاyou الرَشَأُyoung gazelle الَّذيwho قَدalready عَذَّراhas sprouted cheek-down
فَحَوىthus gathered الخَمائِلَthe leafy thickets وَالعَقيقَand the agate الأَحمَراred
O young gazelle who has sprouted cheek-down,
Thus bearing leafy thickets and red agate,
قُمrise فَاِصطَبِحand drink in the morning ماwhat راقَis clear حَتّىso much so that إِنَّهُindeed it
لَوif ريقَwere poured ماءُwater الوَردِof roses فيهِinto it تَكَدَّراit would turn cloudy
Rise and take a morning draught of wine so clear that,
Were rosewater poured into it, it would turn cloudy.
فَالهَمُّfor sorrow لَيسَdoes not يَراكَsee you فيin لَيلِthe night الصِبىof youth
فَاِنعَمso enjoy yourself فَلَيسَfor it does not يَراكَsee you إِنeven if هُوَit أَقمَراbecomes moonlit
For sorrow does not see you in the night of youth;
So enjoy yourself: it will not see you, even if that night turns moonlit.
