لاdo not تَلحُreproach خَلقاًanyone فيfor اِتِّباعِpursuing سُرورِهِhis pleasure
لا تَلحُ خَلقاً في اِتِّباعِ سُرورِهِ
حَتّىuntil تُشاهِدَyou see مِشكَهُhis musk كافوراcamphor
حَتّى تُشاهِدَ مِشكَهُ كافورا
Do not reproach anyone for pursuing his pleasure
Do not insist people follow your joy
until you see his musk become camphor.
Until you see his musk is camphor.
فَالمَرءُfor a man يُعذَرُis excused فيin الشَبابِyouth وَإِنَّماand only
فَالمَرءُ يُعذَرُ في الشَبابِ وَإِنَّما
يُلحىis reproached إِذاwhen سَبَجٌjet غَداhas become بَلّوراcrystal
يُلحى إِذا سَبَجٌ غَدا بَلّورا
For a man is excused in youth, and only
A man is excused in youth but
when jet has become crystal is he reproached.
He is blamed when morning dawns crystalline.
