يا عاذِلي في الصَبوحِ
ماnot أَنتَyou ليto me بِنَصوحِa sincere adviser
ما أَنتَ لي بِنَصوحِ
O you who blame me for morning wine,
You are no sincere adviser to me.
الراحُwine روحيmy soul وَماليand I have no
الراحُ روحي وَمالي
صَبرٌpatience عَلىfor فَقدِthe loss of روحيmy soul
صَبرٌ عَلى فَقدِ روحي
Wine is my soul, and I have no
Patience for losing my soul.
دَعنيleave me فَرَأيُكَfor your opinion فيماon what
دَعني فَرَأيُكَ فيما
أَشَرتَyou advised غَيرُnot صَحيحِsound
أَشَرتَ غَيرُ صَحيحِ
Leave me, for your opinion on what
You advised is unsound.
هَجرُforsaking السُرورِjoy قَبيحٌshameful
هَجرُ السُرورِ قَبيحٌ
ياO آمِريyou who command me بِالقَبيحِto do what is shameful
يا آمِري بِالقَبيحِ
Forsaking joy is shameful,
O you who bid me do what is shameful.
سَتَقتُلُyou will kill العَدلَjustice جَرياًrunning
سَتَقتُلُ العَدلَ جَرياً
خَلفَafter الإِباءِdefiance الجَموحِheadstrong
خَلفَ الإِباءِ الجَموحِ
You will kill justice, running
After headstrong defiance.
وَلاand not تَروحُyou go away عَلىaccording to ماwhat
وَلا تَروحُ عَلى ما
أَراهُI see it إِلّاexcept بِريحِwith wind
أَراهُ إِلّا بِريحِ
And you will go away, as
I see it, with nothing but wind.
