عَبَرتُI passed بِلَحظيwith my gaze عَلىover دارِهِhis dwelling
لِأَحظىso I might be favored بِرُؤيَةِwith the sight of آثارِهِhis traces
I let my gaze pass over his dwelling,
to enjoy the sight of his traces.
فَأَقبَلَthen he approached مُرتَدِياًclad بِالصِباin youth
يُجَرِّرُhe trails أَذيالَthe skirts of أَنوارِهِhis radiance
Then he came forth, clad in youth,
trailing the skirts of his radiance.
فَماso ... not اِحتَاجَneeded فَخُّthe snare of سُؤاليmy inquiry بِهِabout him
إِلىto صَيدِcatching طائِرِthe bird of أَخبارِهِhis tidings
So the snare of my inquiry about him had no need
to catch the bird of his tidings.
