أَخٌ لِيَ أَحلى مِنَ العافِيَه

أَخٌ لِيَ أَحلى مِنَ العافِيَه

مَوارِدُ أَخلاقِهِ صافِيَه

مَوارِدُ أَخلاقِهِ صافِيَه

I have a brother sweeter than good health;

the wellsprings of his character are clear.

يَريشُ جَناحي بِإِحسانِهِ

يَريشُ جَناحي بِإِحسانِهِ

إِذا العُدمُ لَم يُبقَ لي خافِيَه

إِذا العُدمُ لَم يُبقَ لي خافِيَه

He feathers my wing with his kindness

when destitution has left me not a single feather.

وَإِن كانَ شُكري لَهُ وَصلاً

وَإِن كانَ شُكري لَهُ وَصلاً

فَلَيسَت عَطياهُ لي جافِيَه

فَلَيسَت عَطياهُ لي جافِيَه

And if my gratitude to him is a bond of affection,

then his gifts to me are not cold.
