بَعيدِ الشِبهِ مُنقَطِعِ القَرينِ
And cheerful of face, radiant of brow,
With a bright open face and clear brow,
Beyond compare, without a peer:
Far from resembling others, unmatched,
فَتىًa youth تَأَتيهِcome to him آماليmy hopes عِطاشاthirsty
فَتىً تَأَتيهِ آمالي عِطاشا
فَيَرويهاso he quenches their thirst مِنَfrom الرِفدِbounty المُعينِflowing
فَيَرويها مِنَ الرِفدِ المُعينِ
A youth to whom my hopes come thirsty,
A youth to whom my hopes come thirsty,
So he quenches their thirst with flowing bounty.
And whom he quenches from his fountain plenteous,
إِذاwhen لَيَتis wound عِمامَتُهُhis turban عَلَيهِupon him
إِذا لَيَت عِمامَتُهُ عَلَيهِ

فَقَد ليثَت عَلى لَيثِ العَرينِ
When his turban is wound upon him,
When his turban is wrapped around his head,
Then indeed it has been wound upon the lion of the lair.
A lion in his lair has indeed awoken.
