وَمُلهٍ لَهَونا بِهِ عِندَما

وَمُلهٍ لَهَونا بِهِ عِندَما

تَغَنّى بِصَوتٍ لَهُ أَهوَجِ

تَغَنّى بِصَوتٍ لَهُ أَهوَجِ

And an entertainer we amused ourselves with when

A plaything we have made of him when

he sang in his erratic voice.

He sang in a voice that enthralled

إِذا ما الصَوابُ غَدا مَنهَجاً

إِذا ما الصَوابُ غَدا مَنهَجاً

تَعَرَّجَ عَن ذَلِكَ المَنهَجِ

تَعَرَّجَ عَن ذَلِكَ المَنهَجِ

Whenever correctness became a path,

Yet when right becomes the path

he veered away from that path.

He swerves from that path

وَيَخرُجُ في كُلِّ إِيقاعِهِ

وَيَخرُجُ في كُلِّ إِيقاعِهِ

فَأَوقَعَهُ اللَهُ في المَخرَجِ

فَأَوقَعَهُ اللَهُ في المَخرَجِ

And he goes off beat in all his rhythmic playing—

And comes out in every rhythm

so may God cast him into the privy!

So God made him end in ruin
