وَقَهوَةٍand a wine عُنِّقَتwas aged (reading عُتِّقَت) فَنالَتand so it attained
وَقَهوَةٍ عُنِّقَت فَنالَت
أَوفَرَthe fullest حَظٍّshare مِنَof الصَفاءِclarity
أَوفَرَ حَظٍّ مِنَ الصَفاءِ
And a wine, aged, that attained
Coffee embraced in a jug
The fullest share of clarity.
Obtained the greatest share of clarity
كَأَنَّهاas though it were صِبغُthe tint لَونِthe color of خَدٍّa cheek
كَأَنَّها صِبغُ لَونِ خَدٍّ
وَرَدَّهُmade it rosy بَقَّمَthe brazilwood dye of الحَياءِmodesty
وَرَدَّهُ بَقَّمَ الحَياءِ
As though it were the tint of a cheek
As if it were the dye of a cheek’s color
Made rosy by modesty's brazilwood dye.
And its modesty added roses to it
إِذاwhen تَبَدَّتit appears شَمَمتُI smell مِنهاfrom it
إِذا تَبَدَّت شَمَمتُ مِنها
شَبيهَةَsomething resembling المِسكِmusk فيin الزَكاءِfragrance
شَبيهَةَ المِسكِ في الزَكاءِ
When it appears, I smell from it
When it appeared, I smelled from it
Something like musk in fragrance.
A scent like musk in refinement
