وَلائِمٍand a reproacher مَرَّpassed بِمَنby the one لامَنيhe reproached me
فيfor حُبِّهِlove of him سِرّاًsecretly وَإعلاناand openly
And a reproacher passed by the one he had reproached me

فَظَلَّso he remained إِذwhen قابَلَهُhe met him شاخِصاًstaring
كَأَنَّماas though قابَلَhe encountered بُستاناa garden
So when he met him, he remained staring,
So he remained, when he met him, staring,
as though he had encountered a garden.
As if he had met a flower garden.
فَقُلتُso I said وَالشَهوَةُand the desire مِنهُfrom him لَهُfor him
قَدalready بانَbecame clear ليto me مِنهاfrom it الَّذيthat which باناbecame clear
Then I said—his desire for him
So I said, while desire for him burnt in me,
had made plain to me what it made plain—
What was latent to me from it has become manifest.
