وَغادَةٍand a graceful maiden تَخطوsteps كَخوطِlike a shoot البانِthe bān tree
وَغادَةٍ تَخطو كَخوطِ البانِ
ساحِرَةِbewitching الأَلحاظِthe glances وَالأَجفانِand the eyelids
ساحِرَةِ الأَلحاظِ وَالأَجفانِ
And a graceful maiden who steps like a bān-tree shoot,
And a maiden walks with the gait of a fawn
With bewitching glances and eyelids;
A sorceress of glances and eyelids
عَلىupon سَماءِsky جيدِهاher neck الفِتيانِthe youths
عَلى سَماءِ جيدِها الفِتيانِ
جَوزاءُOrion عِقدٍa necklace وَهِلالُand a crescent جانِa serpent
جَوزاءُ عِقدٍ وَهِلالُ جانِ
Upon the sky of her neck are the youths:
Upon the sky of her cheek the youths
A necklace’s Orion and a serpent’s crescent.
A nut-brown roe, a crescent moon her teeth
