أَبو إِسحاقَ في تَعَبٍ

أَبو إِسحاقَ في تَعَبٍ

يُحاوِلُ اَن يُشَبَّهَ بي

يُحاوِلُ اَن يُشَبَّهَ بي

Abu Ishaq is at pains,

Abu Ishaq in exhaustion

trying to be likened to me.

Trying to resemble me

وَهَل في الناسِ مِن أَحَدٍ

وَهَل في الناسِ مِن أَحَدٍ

يَقيسُ الرَأسَ بِالذَنَبِ

يَقيسُ الرَأسَ بِالذَنَبِ

And is there anyone among people

And is there anyone among people

who compares the head with the tail?

Who compares the head to the tail

فَلا يَذهَبُ بِهِ هَوَسٌ

فَلا يَذهَبُ بِهِ هَوَسٌ

فَلَيسَ الصَفرُ كَالذَهَبِ

فَلَيسَ الصَفرُ كَالذَهَبِ

So let no folly carry him away,

So delusion does not take him away

for brass is not like gold.

For gold is not like amber
