ياO مَنone whose مَساعيهِhis endeavors تَغدوgo forth at dawn
إِلىtoward العُلاthe heights وَتَروحُand return at dusk
O you whose endeavors go forth at dawn
Oh seeker of lofty goals
Toward the heights, and return at dusk;
Each morn and eve anew
وَمِنand whose (contextual reading) فَسيحُboundless نَداهُhis bounty
And whose boundless bounty
Your call of generosity
Flows through every land;
Resounds o’er every land
لَوif كانَthere were لِلجودِfor generosity جِسمٌa body
كانَتwould be لَهُfor it مِنكَfrom you روحُa soul
If generosity had a body,
If kindness took a form
Its soul would come from you.
‘Twould be your spirit true
