عَطايا لِلنَدى مِنها شِياتُ

عَطايا لِلنَدى مِنها شِياتُ

وَبِشرٌ ما تَقومُ بِهِ الصِفاتُ

وَبِشرٌ ما تَقومُ بِهِ الصِفاتُ

Gifts from which munificence takes its hallmarks,

Gifts from which generosity takes its distinctive marks,

And a smiling welcome beyond all description,

And a cheerful welcome that descriptions cannot do justice to,

لِغَيثٍ مِن غُيوثِ بَني عَقيلٍ

لِغَيثٍ مِن غُيوثِ بَني عَقيلٍ

إِذا ما اِنهَلَّ أَخصَبَتِ العُفاةُ

إِذا ما اِنهَلَّ أَخصَبَتِ العُفاةُ

Belong to a rain cloud among the rain clouds of Banu ʿUqayl;

From a life-giving rain among the rains of Banū ʿAqīl:

Whenever it pours forth, those who seek bounty flourish.

When he pours down, those seeking bounty flourish.

إِذا باتَ الرَجاءُ بِداءِ مَنعٍ

إِذا باتَ الرَجاءُ بِداءِ مَنعٍ

جَرَت مِن بَذلِهِ فيهِ الحَياةُ

جَرَت مِن بَذلِهِ فيهِ الحَياةُ

When hope has spent the night afflicted with refusal,

When hope lies all night with the sickness of refusal,

Life flows into it from his largesse.

Life flows through it from his giving.
