قَلبَهاher heart أَقسىharder مِنَthan الحَجَرِstone
قَلبَها أَقسى مِنَ الحَجَرِ
I am a bondsman to a lady who owns me;
I am a slave to a mistress;
her heart is harder than stone.
her heart is harder than stone.
تَفزَعُtakes fright الشَكوىcomplaint بِحَوزَتِهاwithin her domain
تَفزَعُ الشَكوى بِحَوزَتِها
لِلَّذيbecause of what تَلقىit encounters مِنَof الضَجَرِvexation
لِلَّذي تَلقى مِنَ الضَجَرِ
Even complaint quails in her presence
Complaint takes fright within her domain
at what it encounters from the stone.
at the vexation it encounters.

Yet whenever I come to flee, I cannot
So whenever I try to flee, I cannot
find the provisions of one who can endure.
find the provisions of one who endures.
