إِذا بَدَت مِن صاحِبٍ نُبُوَّةٌ

إِذا بَدَت مِن صاحِبٍ نُبُوَّةٌ

وَصارَ لِلهِجرَةِ مُعتاداً

وَصارَ لِلهِجرَةِ مُعتاداً

If coldness comes from a friend,

When a friend shows signs of turning prophet

and he grows accustomed to estrangement,

And migrating becomes his habit

لا تَضَعِ المِنجَلَ في وُدِهِّ

لا تَضَعِ المِنجَلَ في وُدِهِّ

إِلّا إِذا سَمّاكَ حَصّادا

إِلّا إِذا سَمّاكَ حَصّادا

do not put the sickle to his affection,

Do not put your sickle in his intimacy

unless he calls you a reaper.

Unless he calls you a harvester
