قَد قُلتُ لَمّا قيلَ عيسى لَهُ

قَد قُلتُ لَمّا قيلَ عيسى لَهُ

في القُربِ مِن أَشباهِهِ نِيَّه

في القُربِ مِن أَشباهِهِ نِيَّه

I said, when told that Isa had

I said, when Jesus was told

a wish to draw close to those like him:

Among his peers there was intent

ما يَجِدُ اللَحمِ فَيَقتاتَهُ

ما يَجِدُ اللَحمِ فَيَقتاتَهُ

فَكَيفَ لا تَعجَبُهُ الرَيَّه

فَكَيفَ لا تَعجَبُهُ الرَيَّه

“He finds no meat to feed upon;

To find no meat, so he would fast

so how could the lung not please him?”

How could he not be excellent?
