خَدٌّa cheek تَأَلَّقَgleamed وَاِستَناراand shone
خَدٌّ تَأَلَّقَ وَاِستَنارا
فَحَكىso it resembled بِحُمرَتِهِwith its redness العُقاراthe wine
فَحَكى بِحُمرَتِهِ العُقارا
A cheek gleamed and shone,
A cheek shone bright and illuminated
and in its redness resembled wine.
Speaking with its blush the passion flower
أَبدىdisplayed عَلىupon ياقوتِهِits ruby
أَبدى عَلى ياقوتِهِ
فَيروزَجُthe turquoise الشَعرِof the hair اِخضِراراgreenness
فَيروزَجُ الشَعرِ اِخضِرارا
Upon its ruby was displayed
Revealing on its ruby
the greenness of the hair’s turquoise.
The emerald green of poetry glistening
فَكَأَنَّهُso it is like مِنfrom فَوقِهِabove it
فَكَأَنَّهُ مِن فَوقِهِ
آسٌmyrtle يُقَبِّلُkisses جُلَّناراa pomegranate blossom
آسٌ يُقَبِّلُ جُلَّنارا
So, above it, it seemed like
As though above it
myrtle kissing a pomegranate blossom.
