A brother of mine—in his gifts I strut at evening,

And at morning he swaggers in my thanks to him.

So the brocade of wealth he drapes on me is richly patterned,

And the striped cloth of praise I drape on him is embroidered.

So if his favors have borne fruit in my planting plots,

Then in his garden an acknowledgment from me blossoms.
