ياO تارِكاًleaving عِجلَthe calf حاليmy condition
مِنَfrom الغِنىwealth ذاpossessing خُوارِa lowing
O you who have left the calf of my condition
O you who hasten from my present state
lowing with wealth,
Of wealth now lost and pride brought low,
اِستَجلِunveil ماwhat وَلَدَتهاgave birth to it
حَوامِلُpregnant ones الأَفكارِthe thoughts
Unveil what was brought forth
Gather what thoughts may yet create
by thoughts heavy with child;
Before inspiration ceases its flow.
فَبَعدَfor after بَذلِbestowal العَطاياthe gifts
لاno صَونَkeeping back لِلأَشعارِfor the poems
for after gifts are bestowed,
For when the gift of verse is spent,
poems are not kept back.
There is no shield for poetry's woe.
