بِنَفسي أَخٌ لي مَنيعُ الحِمى

بِنَفسي أَخٌ لي مَنيعُ الحِمى

فَسيحُ الذِكاءِ رَحيبُ الحِجى

فَسيحُ الذِكاءِ رَحيبُ الحِجى

I would give my life for a brother of mine, whose domain is unassailable,

My soul, a brother to me, fortified from fever,

Broad in intelligence, ample in wisdom.

Quick witted, receptive in mind,

تَقومُ مَساعيهِ مِن حَولِهِ

تَقومُ مَساعيهِ مِن حَولِهِ

فَتَجلو عَلَيهِ عَروسَ العُلا

فَتَجلو عَلَيهِ عَروسَ العُلا

His endeavors stand all around him,

His deeds stand about him,

And unveil before him the bride of glory.

So excellence appears to him as a bride.

فَتىً كُلَّ يَومٍ لَهُ آيَةٌ

فَتىً كُلَّ يَومٍ لَهُ آيَةٌ

مِنَ الجودِ تَظهَرُ بَينَ الوَرى

مِنَ الجودِ تَظهَرُ بَينَ الوَرى

A young man who each day has a sign

A youth who each day has a sign

Of generosity that appears among humankind.

Of generosity that shows among mankind.

إِذا ما عَلَقتُ بِأَذيالِهِ

إِذا ما عَلَقتُ بِأَذيالِهِ

بَلَغتُ المُرادَ وَنِلتُ المُنى

بَلَغتُ المُرادَ وَنِلتُ المُنى

Whenever I cling to the hems of his robe,

When I cling to the hem of his garment,

I reach my goal and attain my wishes.

I attain what I wish and gain what I yearn.
