O brother of the anemone in temple and cheek,
O cheek, so soft and fair
And brother of the cypress in uprightness and stature,
O graceful swaying Cypress tree
بِكَby you إِلّاplease (in entreaty) سَتَرتَyou veiled بِالوَصلِthrough union عَنّيfrom me
بِكَ إِلّا سَتَرتَ بِالوَصلِ عَنّي

وَجهَ إِعراضِكَ الَّذي لَيسَ يَندى
By you, I beg: through union, veil from me
If not for you, your love would hide from me
The face of your aversion, which never grows moist.
Your face of disdain, though it fades not away

It was not enough for it that my cheek became a yellow flower
Was it not enough that your cheek did ensnare
Because of it—even my tears became roses.
My tears, until they flowed as fragrant as rose's bouquet
